Jose Villagomez Moreno, 86, of Center, CO, passed away on October 31, 2023 with his beloved family by his side. He was born in Cañada De Caracheo, Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Lucas Villagomez and Maria Moreno Villagomez.
He loved being outdoors, going for walks and spending mornings at the “Casa Blanca Park." His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; everyone will always remember Grandpa cutting up the watermelon and always insisting that they eat as soon as they walked in the door when they came to visit. On weekends, his family looked forward to him coming in with the chicharrones and carnitas. He also enjoyed going out for ice cream with his family. This was one of his favorite activities on Sundays. In the mornings he always looked forward to his chile rellenos that his daughter Rafa would make him for breakfast.
When he was at his home in Mexico, he enjoyed getting up every morning to get on his donkey and go bring his cows down from the Cerro Grande and he’d spend the whole day feeding them. He worked in agriculture all his life and traveled alongside his brother Carmelo; they both came to follow the "American Dream". He enjoyed sharing all the stories of his life with family and friends. This, as you know, could mean that you heard the same story over and over again, but it would make you smile every time you heard it.
He instilled a good work ethic by taking his children and eventually his grandchildren to work in agriculture and passed on the good work ethic to the generations that came after him. He worked alongside his children and grandchildren with such pride and passion.
Jose was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will always be loved and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
