Nicolas “Nico” Salgado

The angels in heaven are rejoicing; another one of God’s children has come home. Nicolas (Nico) Salgado of Center, Colorado went home peacefully to heaven on June 16, 2024. He was born on May 11, 1944, in Santa Maria Del Oro, Durango Mexico to Jorge and Margarita Marungo.

Nico was known for his most good and thoughtful Christian nature. His love for God and his church was evident because of the time he spent working at his church, praying for others. His presence will be greatly missed. Cherished by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years; they were united in marriage on November 23, 1974. He is also survived by sisters Maria (Alfredo) Montez from El Paso, Texas; Victa Marin from Las Vegas, Nevada; Lydia (Geronimo) Cepeda from El Paso, Texas; one brother, Quirino Marungo from Delicias, Chihuahua. Can’t forget his 4-legged companion RYKER, who was by his side always.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jorge and Margarita Marungo, Benito Marungo, Leocadio Marungo, Alicia Heredia, Flavio Marungo, Modesto Marungo. There were 10 siblings.

He loved gardening, traveling, fishing, and being with his family, laughing with nephews and nieces.

His close family being Susie and Brad Stiens, Alex Stiens, Joseph and Nicole Stiens and kids, Krystal and Allen Salter and kids; Brother- in-law Joe Cisneros.

A big thank you to my niece Krystal Salter for the most excellent personal care and attention she provided for him!

Memorial service will be on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 7:00 pm to be held at Center Assembly of God church located on 565 E. 7th St. Center, Colorado. Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11:00 am to be held at the same church.
